He is celebrated for his expressive voice and diverse stylistic range. Bobo gained national recognition in 1993 as part of the pop duo Peaches & Bobo. He is an established big band singer performing with bands such as the DR Big Band and Tivoli’s Big Band. Bobo appears regularly at top jazz venues and festivals in Denmark and across Europe. \nThe Night Train Big Band is a full big band. DESCRIPTION:Really looking forward to playing at Tøjhuset\, Fredericia\, DK with the bassist Kenneth Dahl Knudsen and pianist Carl-Emil Dons Christensen. This is an exciting new trio playing contemporary jazz and world music – the trio’s repertoire consists primarily of their own compositions. \nKenneth Dahl Knudsen is one of the most recognized Danish bassists. He is an active composer and musician and is the bandleader for a number of his own projects. Knudsen has played and worked with a number of Danish and\ninternational jazz musicians\, including John Scofield\, Uffe Steen\, Aaron Parks\, Gilad Hekselman\, Dick Oatts\, Lingling Yu\, Mayank Bedekar\, Jonathan Blake\, Joel Frahm\, Francois Lindemann\, Jaleel Shaw\, Uri Gurvich\, Tomasz Dabrowski and Gauthier Toux. Knudsen lives in and works from Aalborg. He holds a position as assistant professor at the Royal Academy of Music where he teaches bass\, entrepreneurship and ensemble playing. In addition\, Knudsen is Musical Director for the talent development projects Young Nordic Stars and Liberty Orchestra. \nCarl-Emil Dons Christensen\, an outstanding young musician\, is a regular pianist in various projects\, including the critically acclaimed Tobias Stavngaard Sextet where he plays with Aske Drasbæk and Jakob Sørensen from The Kutimangoes. DESCRIPTION:Really looking forward to playing drums in the house band for the Jazz Jam at Pica Pica on Wednesday 19th February. The band will be a trio that includes Mark Hurrell on saxophone and Adrián Filip on bass. \nMark comes from the UK and has recently been undertaking a Master’s degree associated with the elite music program NOMAZZ (a joint initiative between the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus\, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm). Previously\, he studied at some of the UK’s most respected establishments and has played at top jazz clubs in London such as Ronnie Scotts\, 606 jazz club and Pizza Express. \nAdrián comes from Slovakia and is completing a Master’s degree with RAMA (the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus). Adrián has played across Europe and in various settings including the band Groove Junction who performed at the Aarhus Jazz Festival. \nThe trio will perform an opening set of tunes by Thelonius Monk\, Joe Henderson and Freddie Hubbard. The festival takes place annually at the end of May and hosts an audience of more than 35.000 people.
